What’s Nearby?: Jubilee Mine, Pioneer SaloonZzyzx, Ladder of Doom Canyon, Turtle Tears Canyon

This canyon is considered by many to be the nicest one in the Stateline Hills area (we’ve been pleasantly surprised by all of them for whatever that’s worth). Like neighboring Turtle Tears, you get nice views on the way up (although the approach feels less exposed than Turtle Tears), and the longer approach travels across a rather pleasant mesa before the final last bit of ascent.

The canyon itself features some interesting rock formations and a few sections of nicely polished, sculpted rock. Cairn anchors are used almost exclusively throughout the canyon, so if you’re not familiar with how to build and/or check this type of anchor, you will want to educate yourself before going.
