Shark’s Cove

Shark’s Cove

Epic Travel → North America → Hawaii → Oahu → Shark’s Cove

Location:
 North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii

Time Required: 2 hours

Red Tape/Notes: Entry can be awkward – it’s rocky and the rocks are often slippery. Don’t bother going unless it’s calm; surges of nearly any size will make the water cloudy and ruin your visibility.

What’s Nearby?: Turtle Beach

Don’t let the name fool you. There aren’t sharks here. What there is, though, is nice snorkeling. It’s also apparently nice for diving, but we didn’t try it so I can’t tell you firsthand. There will probably be people here, but if you go early enough you may get the place to yourself. We were lucky enough to hang out with a turtle, which is always fun. There are loads of rock shelves to peak under, and just outside of the cove there are caves (this is more for the divers, though, since leaving the cove isn’t recommended for snorkelers).
