Red Tape/Notes: $5 per car to park or $1 per person. Try to go in the late morning – that’s when the light is best.

Dropping 420 feet from a sheer cliff, ‘Akaka Falls is impressive (and we saw it in very low flow conditions, so the picture here is not a good indication of how amazing it can be), and while not as easy to reach as Rainbow Falls, it’s only 1 mile and therefore is a relatively low time commitment. It’s a very pretty mile, too, leading you through lush jungle to the wide open viewpoint where you can look down on the falls.
