This area is nice for a quick escape and a breath of fresh air. Although the “trail” is along an old truck road, the area has long been banned to motorized vehicles so the road generally has a pleasant overgrown feel to it. For about two thirds of the distance, the road travels along beside a creek with lovely live oaks and willows (watch out for poison oak though!) shading the way, and then heads uphill to climb to the top of the Ramona Reservoir, providing nice views from there. About a mile in, a trail branches off to the south (on the right if you’re on your way towards the reservoir) and heads to Lake Poway, which offers another nice, quick hike.
