Want to explore some local history? Don’t mind if your outing is slightly touristy? Then this place is great! You can tour two of the old gold mines (they’re connected, so you go in one mine and out the other) that gave rise to the town of Julian – they were restored in the 1960’s to represent how they were in the 1870’s and are filled with old mining memorabilia. You’ll also see some of the old mining equipment, and you can pan for gold and pretend you’re on Gold Rush.
